Kosovo proclaims independence

You probably know all about it. If not, you can read more here.
You can see the new independent Kosovo flag on the left (via wikipedia). Looks like blue and yellow colored flags with stars are very popular nowadays in countries which are trying to scream how multi-ethnic and european they are. Example -> modern Bosnian flag.

It will be interesting to see how events will unfold in next days. How will the Serbs in north Kosovo (Kosovska Mitrovica) respond? Will they try to break-away from the new republic and reintegrate back into Serbia? Will Serbs of Bosnia try to follow Kosovo example? Will Basques in Spain try to follow Kosovo example? Will South Ossetia now use Kosovo as precedent?

Is Kosovos proclamation of independence unique case as EU and USA are claiming? Or did they open Pandoras box as Serbia an Russia are claiming? Well, to get an answer to that question, we will have to wait. We can’t be that smart.

Last nail in the coffin of HD DVD?

Looks like The War on Format, between Blu-Ray and HD DVD, is coming to an end.

Wall-Mart, – the über retailer -, announced two days ago that it would drop HD DVD products (more here) and similar news is now coming from Toshiba, at least according to Reuters (more here). Toshiba was one of the main players behind the HD DVD format.

After Warner Bros. January announcement that it would exclusively support Blu-Ray in the future (more here), latest news could be the last nail in the coffin of the HD-DVD.
