Trieste
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day — perfect for a visit to Trieste, a capital of Italian Friuli-Venezia Giulia autonomous region.
Quote from Wikipedia article on Trieste:
Trieste (Italian: Trieste; Slovene and Croatian: Trst; German: Triest) is a city and port in northeastern Italy very near to the Slovenian border, to the North, East and South. Trieste is located at the head of the Gulf of Trieste on the Adriatic Sea. Throughout its history, it has been influenced by its geographic position at the crossroads of Germanic, Latin and Slavic culture. With a population of 208,614 (2007)[citation needed], it is the capital of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trieste province.
Accompanied by my wife and sister, we went to a tourism / shopping trip. It was more shopping in the end (yeah, you try and get the girls out of shops), but still I managed to get a taste of the city and I must admit I liked it — the city has history written all over it. Here are some pictures I managed to make, while trying to catch up with girls shopping tour.
More photos on my Flickr set.
