New And Old Keyboards?

After listening The Talk Show - The Keyboard Episode, I’ve got the strongest urge to buy myself a new keyboard. But after looking deep into my wallet I’ve decided that I’ll just clean up the old one (weirdo). Well, — after reading “Mark Llobreras Keyboards, Keyboards” post —, I was actually getting in love with Matias Tactile Pro 2.0 keyboard, but the damn thing is not cheap and I don’t type for living at home. Also let me add that version 2.0 didn’t get so good reviews. And the old Apple Keyboard which came with my iMac 2 years ago is quite a decent keyboard anyway.

So here it is — The Apple Keyboard —, washed and shiny:

Since I’ve cleaned quite a few keyboards in my life, this was no mission impossible to me. Dish cleanser and the shower did a good job fighting yellow greasy stains and after blowing it dry and carefully reassembling it, it almost felt as I would be holding a brand new keyboard in my hands. :)

I’ve also managed to find two old keyboards I was using years ago. The first one, — DMS keyboard —, is my all time favorite. If it would be an USB keyboard and not so god damn dirty, I’d probably still use it instead of the Apple keyboard. Btw. it’s not those blue buttons that made it so good for me, it just felt good typing with it.

The second is an even older Cherry keyboard, model RS6000. You can call her Dirty Cherry, btw.. I believe it came with my first Pentium (120 MHz) and Windows 95. I really don’t know why I’m keeping it, especially because it sports an old DIN connector which is pretty much unusable today. I clean up my attic regularly and I always seem to miss it.

At work I use Genius SlimStar Pro keyboard. It’s quite a decent one and it’s not loud which makes it perfect for the office.

So, do you have any old keyboard to show us and brag about them? :)
